RBC counts the number of red blood cells per microliter. Like HCT and HGB, it rises on TRT due to erythropoietin stimulation.

Adult male reference: 4.5–5.5 M/μL.

What does high RBC mean?

  • +TRT, polycythemia vera, smoking, dehydration, chronic hypoxia.

What does low RBC mean?

  • +Anemia of any cause; recent blood loss; hemolysis.
